Fire Island Celebrity history- Madonna
1989. Singer Madonna arrives in the Pines by seaplane with her current boyfriend and costar actor Warren Beatty as a guest of her brother Christopher Ciccone (below) who rents a bayside home on Shore walk. They arrive nausea from the bumpy ride. They spend the day swimming as the island begins to buzz of her arrival. They leave by ferry.

Brother Christopher Ciccone writes in his book “Life with my sister Madonna”
“Cars are banned here, so the residents use small wagons to transport luggage and groceries around its narrow boardwalks. Fire Island is beautiful and the only place in the world where I feel completely at ease being a gay man. I invite Warren and Madonna to come out there for lunch, and—to my surprise—they agree.”

“Love the section about Chris’ book and his excerpt about Madonna coming to the Pines in 1989 with Warren I was the dockmaster for FIPPOA and I’m the one who opened the Sea-plane door and welcomed her and her entourage along with a very tall Warren Beatty to the pines
I had waited on the dock with Chris as I knew who he was and it was fun to watch Debi Mazar with her beehive hairdo and sunglasses join Warren and Madonna as they walked down the dock towards Chris’ house The irony is that was not her first time at the pines the summer before I ran into Chris , and he quickly introduced me very quietly, and privately to his sister Madonna as we stood in front of the pantry when they used to serve ice cream downstairs. She was all dressed up in disguise like at 1950s Hollywood starlet sunglasses and wide brim hat and it was 9 o’clock at night.”
