Season 2015.
After a dramatic auction straight out of  the TV show Empire the winners were PJ McAteer and Ian Reisner.
The season always kicks off with the fabulous party at the historic home “Reflections” previously owned by Gloria & Larry DeMann where parties like “Hooray for Hollywood” took place. Now owned by Gil Neary where the tradition continues…
 And then this happened….
The boy was caught. Co- owner Ian Reisner and former partner Matti Weiderpass host a dinner for anti-gay Republican Ted Cruz. Major backlash begins with a Boycott of all his properties including the now Fire Island Pines. And so it begins…
However as the season starts…what boycott is the catch phrase?
The season begins with tradition. The Kentucky Derby party was created by longtime resident Alan Mazur. Started at his home it grew to the then Island Club benefiting the Pines Chamber of Commerce, to the now Sip N Twirl.
On to the Pines Cares benefit…
Then Broadway bared it…
And then this happened..
SAGE always….

Thank you Linda Gottlieb and your team!
And this…
The 40th Anniversary Invasion!
Then again…
In spite of a mean spirited social media backlash the Pines came back stronger than it’s social media opponent. Business grew as owner PJ McAteer and his team worked harder than ever to bring back the properties from the debt that was left. The community was with him, and love for the community won.
DRA (Dancers responding to AIDS) does it again.
We all went down the yellow brick road to another record breaking Pines Party…
Art has always been a part of our history…
It was the perfect year for a new tradition…
More traditions old and new…
