2006. This is the fifth year for the Literary/Theater weekend – and the fifth anniversary of The Madison Fire Island Pines, an upscale guest house that just had the most successful season in its history. It’s an annual late-fall event that draws over 100 people to the pool deck of The Madison at 22 Atlantic Walk. They feature performances from Broadway shows and interviews with playwrights and directors. In the past we’ve had Mart Crowley, author of The Boys in the Band; playwright Christopher Durang, “Grey Gardens” writer and director, and the cast of “Forbidden Broadway”. This year it’s a celebration of the 50th anniversary of “West Side Story,”with musical performances form the show and conversations with actors and journalists who’ve written books about the legendary show. It’s a free event for the community, a thank you from The Madison to the Pines. Cocktails at 2pm, performance at 3pm. I love fall community events in the Pines!
