150 Ocean Walk- “The Fire Island” House.
I walked by this house in both it’s forms as a young day tripper. It represented everything about the Pines. Glamour, design, and fabulous. All that the Pines encompasses.
It also had it’s own history…
Designed by architect Earl Combs at the corner of Ocean and Cedar walk in the early 70’s. It was the home of Sandpiper restaurant/nightclub owner Gene Smith.

The home had a unique design of several tiki style rooms connecting to the main living areas. All facing the ocean view.
The original home was lost in a fire in 1986 taking 6 homes.
The home was rebuilt by builder Walter Boss the next year.
Then, and now owned by Bobby D’Antonio who owned a store here in the Pines called NY Man then All American Boy ( also on Christopher Street NYC) from 1982-1991.
In the 1995 benefit called “Pink Umbrellas” tenant at 150 0cean Blake Byrne was one of the host homes. His guest that weekend was Patti Davis ( daughter of Ronald & Nancy Reagan.)
Built in a similar design the new home had a grand entrance from Ocean walk. In contrast from the back it revealed its ocean view from the former similar design of the separate rooms.
